AutoQubik

Automatic width measurement of untrimmed sawn timber

Autoqubik saves the workers’ time – they no longer have to write down the dimensions on pieces of paper or on the computer. The system consists of a laser head, a camera and a computer station. Boards are put in stacks on the floor by two workers. The laser, hung around 4 metres above the stack, detects a new board in the stack and measures its width in one place the middle, from bark to bark.

The results are visible on the computer screen and saved in an SQL database. The stack is labelled and given a special number. The packages can be managed with a WOODBASE program.

System parameters:

  • Maximum width of the stack – 1200 mm
  • The accuracy of board measurement (depending on the species) +- 5mm
